Kenya


The country is named after Mount Kenya, the country's highest peak. The name means "mountain of light " in local languages .


It is an east African country, which borders Ethiopia to the north, Somalia to the east, Tanzania to the south, Uganda to the west and Sudan to the northwest, the Indian Ocean running along the southeast. The capital is Nairobi.


Some fossils found in eastern Africa suggest that proto-humans roamed the area oftoday's Kenya over twenty million years ago. Recent findings in the vicinity of LakeTurkana indicate that hominids such as Homo habilis and Homo erectus lived in theterritory more than 2.6 million years ago.

Tsavo National park


This park is divided in two zones, the east and west.

Is the bigger hunting reserve in kenia, and one of the most large in the world, it's also the most popular destiny to the safaris arround africa.

It is know because the incredible concentration of lyons and elephants.

This park is bigger than Jamaica

It has mor than 60 mammal specias and 1000 plants.

The Kenia Mountain

The kenia national park gives you one of the most incredible landscaping in all oriental africa.

In the mountain there is 12 permanent glaciers, and all of this are getting warm in the borders giving a flower covering.

It has incredible lakes, glaciers, mountain tops, natural sources of mineral water.

In the lower levels, there are dry forests and just a little bit higher you find the bamboo forests, and higher you will find dry zones where the elefants lives, the buffalo, the zebra and the orices.

In the hillsides you can see the black rhynos, the leopards, the hyena and the wild boar.


Typical food:

They use a lot of vegetables and meat with a hot sauce. The kenians try to prepare simple food using just a few sources.

Tanzania


HISTORY



What is now Tanzania was a German colony known as German East Africa from about 1880 to 1919. Was under control of the United Kingdom between 1919 and 1961. Shortly after independence, Tanganyika and Zanzibar merged to form Tanzania on 26 April 1964. The one-party rule ended in 1995, when it held its first democratic elections in the country since 1970.


The famous Olduvai Gorge in northern Tanganyika departed intriguing evidence on the prehistory of the area, including fossil remains of some of the earliest ancestors of mankind. Findings suggest that East Africa may have been the place where human beings appeared.


It is believed that the area was inhabited by ethnic groups who spoke languages with similar sounds to those of the Bushmen and Hottentots of South Africa. Although there are still remnants of these early tribes, most of them were displaced by Bantu farmers who migrated west and south and Nilotic and other related peoples of the north. Some of these groups formed well-organized societies and controlled large areas until the time when Arab traders, European explorers and missionaries penetrated the interior in the first half of the nineteenth century.

You can also find the butter trees and the poison euphorias, that produce a white jouice used by the indians to poison their arrows.
